My Bolognalingua experience was so good last March that I plan to go back for another week this September or so. Bologna, the town, is fascinating; relatively few tourists, but a ton of students. Unique architecture with all the arcades.

I stayed in a hotel at the edge of the university quarter in the old center city; it was clean, neat, and modern although in (I suspect) an old building. After the first morning when Andrea Quarantotto met me and showed me what to do, I would walk to a bus stop, take a 20 minute bus ride to Andrea's stop, walk five minutes to his house, be served a coffee by his wife Daniella, and spend the next three hours in intense Italian, working alone with Andrea.

About 30 minutes into our first morning, Andrea had figured out what I knew, what I didn't know, and then tailored his teaching and drills to build up my strength. There were two other students in the program during the week I was there, and the three of us had lunch with Andrea and Daniella, family style, at the house with conversation mostly in Italian. On Monday and Tuesday afternoon, Andrea took the three of us into the old town and gave us a personal, private tour, again in Italian; on Thursday he drove us to Ravenna where he had engaged a guide to show us the highlights, and on Friday we went to an old castle village, so we got to see quite a bit of the region.

Obviously you get out of the program whatever you put into it. If you have no Italian, you are not going to be fluent at the end of five very intensive days. If you have some Italian (it just happened that we three students were all at about the same level), I think the program is a wonderful way to build on the foundation and fill in some of the cracks and holes that exist. Since the program is tailored to what you already know and want to know (get around Italy comfortably? read Dante in the original?) it is both interesting and helpful.

I have had intensive lessons of Italian language and culture in Bolognalingua for three months during my stay in Italy as a bursary of my employer. I was interested not only in speaking and understanding the colloquial language but also in juridical and administrative vocabulary, because I am a professional interpreter. I feel that all these needs were satisfied. I appreciated Andrea's profound knowledge of Italian reality and politics and his perfectionism in teaching correct Italian. He is the ideal combination of a linguist and a commentator of everyday topics, with mature and interesting ideas. He also understands other European languages, which offers him insight into students' mistakes and "false friends" due to interferences from their linguistic background.

I also appreciated the warm reception in his family and his discretion. Last but not least Andrea also helped me out with finding short time accommodation in Bologna which is not always an easy task.

Ho conosciuto Andrea Quarantotto, quando ho avuto dei corsi di lingua e cultura italiana per i tre mesi del mio soggiorno in Italia. Siccome sono interprete - avevo una borsa del mio datore di lavoro- volevo non solo parlare e capire la lingua quotidiana, ma anche il vocabolario giuridico e amministrativo. Considero che entrambe necessità sono state soddisfatte. Ho molto apprezzato il conoscimento profondo della realtà e della politica italiana  del mio professore e il suo perfezionismo nel insegno del italiano coretto. E la combinazione ideale di linguista e commentatore di assunti sociali con idee chiare, mature e interessanti. Aggiungo che capisce altre lingue romane fatto che gli permette anticipare gli sbagli degli studenti stranieri, dovuti alle interferenze del loro background  linguistico.

Ho apprezzato molto l'accoglimento cordiale in una famiglia italiana e la loro discrezione e amabilità. Andrea mi ha aiutato a trovare alloggio per un corto soggiorno a Bologna, cosa che non è mica facile.

La primavera passata, cioè 2007, ho studiato italiano per un anno e mezzo. Ho già frequentato due corsi settimanali in Italia, uno a Roma e l´altro all´isola d´Elba. Cercavo qualcos´altro, un corso individuale dove era possibile anche a partecipare nella vita quotidiana. Ho trovato la Bolognalingua su Internet e ho avuto un presentimento che questa “scuola” sarebbe perfetta per me. Il mio presentimento si è dimostrato essere giusto. La settimana a casa di Andrea all´inizio di aprile era molto piacevole e anche un´immersione totale nella vita italiana. Stavo in un Bed & Breakfest solo due passi dalla casa di Andrea. La mattina prendevamo di solito un caffè insieme alla famiglia, chiacchierando del più e del meno, poi avevo una lezione di tre ore con Paula, una insegnante colta e amichevole. Poco dopo mezzogiorno pranzavamo insieme alla famiglia, insegnanti e studenti. Mi è piaciuto l´atteggiamento della famiglia, così allegro e informale. Dopo il pranzo Andrea ed io facevamo una gita in macchina a qualche paese o luogo interessante. Ricordo sopratutto Brisighella e Dozza, tutti e due luogi così belli e rilassanti. Ritornavamo a casa normalmente verso le cinque. Vorrei raccomandare la Bolognalingua a tutti quelli che sono interessati non solo alla lingua italiana ma anche alla vita quotidiana.

Having at last received my 'bus pass' I thought it was about time I did what I've been wanting to do since a teenager and that is learn Italian.
An italian teacher in England recommended Bologna Lingua and it was with some trepidation, after only 6 months of lessons, that I took the plunge and attended the school for one week.
It was the best decision I ever made.
I must admit that I'm a fluent french speaker and that has helped enormously but, with the patience and encouragement of Andrea, in that one week I broke the barrier of fearing to speak and had a wonderful, very hard work week.
I would recommend it to anyone but NOT to complete beginners.
You must have a basic knowledge of the language in order to take full advantage of the lessons, not to mention the delightful lunches with Andreas family and of course the excursions into the stunning countryside and towns surrounding Bologna.

Ich war zwei Mal in Bologna um Italienisch zu lernen. Jedesmal studierte ich bei Andrea Quarantotto bei Bologna Lingua und jeder Aufenthalt war ein Vergnügen.
Einerseits beeindruckte mich die zauberhafte Stadt mit ihren unzähligen Laubengängen, ihrer Gelassenheit, der Freundlichkeit ihrer Bewohner, andrerseits war es Andrea, der meine Zeit in Bologna angenehm machte.
Ich nahm beide Male Einzelunterricht, was zwar anstrengend gewesen ist, weil sich der Unterricht selbstverständlich ausschließlich in Italienisch abspielt, aber dafür war auch das Ergebnis vielversprechend.  Eine ausgezeichnete Basis für die Zukunft.
Andrea ist geduldig, aber auch fordernd.  Die Balance zwischen Plaudern, Sprechen und Grammatik ist ausgewogen, die Hausaufgaben im richtigen Ausmaß.
Ich kann die eine oder andere Italienischstunde im Hause Quarantotto nur empfehlen.
Die Athmospäre ist entspannt und weit entfernt von der Hektik und Sterilität einer Sprachschule.
Und ganz nebenbei erfährt man jede Menge Wissenswerte über Bologna, die Region und das Leben in Italien ganz allgemein.

Sono stata due volte a Bolognaper imparare l'italiano. Ogni volta ho studiato l'italiano con Andrea Quarantotto, della scuola 'bolognalingua' e posso dire che ogni soggiorno era un gran divertimento.
Da una parte mi impressiona la città meravigliosa con gli innumerevoli portici, il suo laissez-faire e l'amabilità della gente.  D'altra parte è grazie ad Andrea che questi soggiorni per me sono rimasti così indimenticabili.
Ho atteso le lezioni private, un modo di studiare abbastanza faticoso anche perché le lezioni si svolgono esclusivamente in italiano.  Ma quanto promettenti se si pensa al risultato!  Una base fondamentale per il futuro!
Andrea è molto paziente anche se richiede molto.  C'è un buon equilibrio tra 'belle chiacchierate, una conversazione seria e la grammatica', i diversi compiti non sono mai esagerati ma ben misurati.
Posso veramente consigliare le lezioni nella casa di Andrea Quarantotto.
L'atmosfera è molto rilassata, lontana dalla frenesia e dalla sterilità di una scuola di lingua tradizionale.
Ed oltre a ciò si viene a sapere di tante cose interessanti sia su Bologna, la regione che la vita in Italia.

受けました。この学校を選んだのは個人レッスンを先生のご自宅で受けられることに魅力を感じたからでした。 （それまでにも日本／イタリアの語学学校でグループレッスンを受けておりました。）

ボロー ニャリングアで の初日のレッスンにはちょっと驚きました。先生のご自学居間

のテー ブルが机で、居 間を見回して「あれは何？」といった質問から始まりました。単語は知っていてもなかなかスムーズに答えられませんでしたが、徐々に慣れていきました。教科 書の本はなく先生が下さるプリントを勉強していきました。プリントにジェスチャーのあるものは実際やったりと体験してイタリア語を習得した感じです。また イタリア語を話すときに発音も何度も直されました。

レッス ンはご自宅居間 という環境でリラックスしながら、且つ1対1で緊張 しながら

あっと いう間の3時間で した。レッスン 後には料理上手の先生の昼食をご馳走になるというお楽しみもありました。

 
こ の学校を選ばれる方はイタリア語初心者の方よりある程度イタリア語を勉強された方が

向いて いると思いま す。授業料も多少高いですが授業の質はとても高いです。

またボ ローニャは安全 で何処に行くにもアクセスのいい街でした。休日には電車に乗ってあちこちの街に遊びに行きました。ボローニャの街も見るところがあり時間があるときはよく 街の中を歩きました。

L'estate scorsa, sono andata a Bologna per realizzare il mio sogno.
Il mio sogno era migliorare il mio l'italiano e convincere la mia paura di parlare.
Ho fatto un corso di una settimana.
Le lezioni private erano intensive ma ho imparato molto. Il tempo non aiutava, era 35 gradi, troppo caldo per studiare.
 
All'inizio ero molto incerta e nervosa. Durante la settimana. mi sentivo meglio, più rilassata e mi sono divertita. Tu e Daniella siete persone calorissime.
Mi è piaciuta la vostra bellissima casa dove c'era una atmosfera di pace.
Mi avete fatto un pranzo delizioso. Una ricetta facile e indimenticabile era insalata con uovo, cipolla, pomodoro e fagioli. Adesso è una ricetta famosa a Nimega.

Non dimentico mai i momenti quando parlavamo del più e del meno ma anche delle cose della vita.

Andrea, a causa della tua intelligenza, la tua pazienza, ma soprattutto il tuo spirito ce l'ho fatta. Anche se mi sbaglio non ho paura di parlare.
